Aphrodisiac:
An aphrodisiac (plural: aphrodisiacs) is an agent used for the purpose of stimulating libido. The word comes from the name Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of fertility, sensual love and beauty. The effect of many aphrodisiacs has not been proven, but for garlic and ginseng, for example, research has shown that they increase hormone levels. It is known that alcohol (wine) removes inhibitions and, if used in limited quantities, that it has a positive influence on our bed performance or at least the perception thereof.
University of Florence:
The University of Florence has carried out a study into the influence of red wine on women's pleasure feelings. Eight hundred women aged between 18 and 50 participated in the study. Women who drink more than two glasses of alcohol per day were not allowed to participate in the study to exclude possible intoxication.
The participants received a questionnaire, the so-called "Female Sexual Function Index", which is commonly used to measure women's sexual health. The nineteen questions yielded a score between 2 and 36 points.
Women who drank an average of two glasses of red wine a day scored an average of 27.3 points, less frequent drinkers scored 25.9 points and total abstainers scored 24.4 points.
Conclusion: Women who drink modest amounts of red wine usually have more sex drive than women who drink other alcoholic drinks or than total abstainers.
The doctors believe that the explanation lies in the antioxidant effect of red wine, which promotes blood flow in the body and results in a higher sex drive. In addition, alcohol increases the concentration of testosterone in women (in men, alcohol works the other way around. Also a moderate intake of alcohol lowers testosterone levels in men). I want to emphasize again that the above only relates to moderate wine consumption, the saying "A drunken woman is an angel in ..." is, in my opinion, but rarely true...
Bubbles:
Sparkling drinks such as Champagne, Cava, or other alcoholic bubble drinks also have their positive effect on our libido. Often because of the special moment when we have such a drink, but also because, as I hear so many people say, "the bubbles rise to our heads". The CEO of the well-known Champagne house Taittinger once claimed at a press conference in California that it is not Californian bubbles that are his biggest competitor, but Viagra pills. Which means that champagne and Viagra are in line with each other in terms of lust...
Bodegas Monje Tenerife, Canary Islands:
That the combination of "wine & sex" is also attracting more and more attention in the commercial world is evident. Check out this curious initiative of Bodegas Monje, known as serious and highly regarded, from the town of EL Sauzal in Tenerife. They organize 4 times a year, with the changing of the seasons, a dinner with wine tasting where erotic dishes are served and at the same time erotic products are presented. The dinner is always sold out so it is apparently a gap in the market.
